American secretary for navy Daniels did not believe that England wanted not to be superior on the seas according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 12 March 1920

An item dated London, England 7th referred to a telegram received from Washington, USA which reported that the American secretary of navy Daniels did not believe the statement of Eric Geddes (1) was official. Geddes claimed that the United Kingdom did not intend to built more battleships as the USA. Daniels pointed out that the United Kingdom persuaded her colonies to built warships. Even if the USA joined the League of Nations possessed the United Kingdom a navy as powerful as the strongest in the world. If the USA did not join the League was the British navy even the greatest.
