German shipyard Schichau ordered to built torpedo boats for German navy according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1889 no. 10

An item reported that the Firm Schichau, Elbing, Germany received an order to built two torpedo divisions boats for the German navy. The German navy numbered 6 of such boats of which the Nos. 1-5 were completed and the 6th fitting out. Nos. 1-4 were fitted out with 2.500 ihp machinery and a speed of 20-21 knots while the Nos. 6-5 had 3.500 ihp and a speed of 23 knots. The to be built No. 7-8 would be fitted with even more powerful machinery with as building costs 1,2 million mark while the costs of the other boats had been 1 million mark. The latter two torpedo boats could also served as destroyers.
