An item dated Rome, Italy 20nd referred to a tiding received from Constantinople, Turkey which reported that according to rumours the Greek general Pangalos was preparing for military activities in East Thracia.(1) The High Commissaries sent a torpedo boat towards Saloniki to examine what was going on.(2)

1.Lieutenant general Theodoros Pangalos (11 January 1878 Salamis, Greece-26 February 1952 Athens, Greece), participated in the revolt in September 1922 against king Constantine I. Prime minister of Greece between 25 June 1925-19 July 1926 and president of the Second Hellenic Republic 6 April-19 July 1926.
2.Until 22 October 1923 were at Constantinople at all times one British Senior Allied High Commissioner and one Allied High Commissioner present. The Allies occupied between 16 March 1920-22 October 1923 what was called the Zone of the Straits (Bosporus, Dardanelles and so on) included Constantinople.
