Japan would have an impressive battle fleet by 1927 according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 4 September 1920

The as aircraftcarrier completed Akagi

An item dated Tokyo, Japan 28th August reported that at the end of 1927 Japan would have 12 new battleships (1) and 12 new battle cruisers (2) of which several to be armed with 16” guns.

1. The Tosa-class consisting of the Tosa (scuttled 1925) and Kaga (converted into an aircraft carrier), the cancelled Kii-class consisting of the Kii, Owari and the Nos. 11 and 12 and the so-called Number 13-class consisting of the Nos. 13-16.
2. The Amagi-class consisting of the Amagi, Akagi, Atagao and Takao of which the Akagi was completed as an aircraft carrier.
