German light ship Norderney I 1906-

Deutschland-flagged. Built by AG Weser, Bremen, Germany with yard number 157 between 1906-1907 for account of the Tonnen- und Bakenamt. Gross register tonnage 382 tons and as dimensions 52,50 (over all) x 7,80 x 3,81 maximum) metres. Used as reserve light ships stationed on the North Sea. Since 31 October 1936 station Elbe I when the Büreregister O’Swald was lost, as the Leuchtschiff H on station Elbe 2 between 1939-1945 and since 1945 again station Elbe 1 until 7 November 1948. Between 1949-1952 reserve for the stations Elbe 1, Weser and Bremen. Stationed since 26 March 1954 on station Weser, in 1955-1956 station Bremen lacking sufficient sea performance and enough horsepower since she was fitted out with a diesel! Next again stationed on station Weser. As last light ship stationed on the Weser decommissioned in the end of 1981 due to the high maintenance costs and laid up.  Originally fitted out with a steam engine, replaced during her modernisation between 1952-1954 by 1 6 cylinder 310hp/228kW MWM-diesel engine allowing a maximum speed of 7 knots.
