German submarine U-10 (S-189) 1967-1993

Launched at Howaldtswerke, Kiel, Germany in 1967, commissioned on 28 November 1967, decommissioned n 16 February 1993, nowadays museum ship in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Type 205 submarine preceded by the Type 201 submarine and succeeded by the Type 206 submarine. General technical specifications of the type 205 are a displacement of 457 (surfaced)-508 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 43,9 x 4,6 x 4,3 metres or 144 x 15.1 x 14.1 feet. The machinery consisted of 2-600 hp Mercedes-Benz 4 stroke V-12 diesel engines, each with a BBC generator and 1-1.300 hp SSW electric motor. Speed 10 (surfaced)-17 (submerged) knots and a range with a speed of 5 knots 4.200 nautical miles when surfaced and with a speed of 4 knots 228 nautical miles when submerged. Test depth was 100 metres/330 feet. Their crew numbered 22 men (included 4 officers). The armament consisted of 8-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes.
