An item referred to the German magazine Schiffbau dated 26 May 1920 reporting that the USA intended to found a large naval base at Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Haiti seemed to be willing to hand over the necessary area make it possible to obtain a base on a very important strategically location near the Panama Canal.
