Japan searching for oil at Sachalin according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1923

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau reporting that on the Japanese budget for 1923 was asked for 1,5 million yen to be used for drilling at Sachalin for oil extraction in the future on behalf of the navy, mainly to be used as fuel.(1)

Note
1. Captured by the Japanese in the Russo-Japanese War in 1904-1905, but in 1903 was the northern part given back to Russia, in 1920 again captured by Japan and returned on 1925 until in 1945 captured the southern part. Sachalin has huge oil and natural gas reserves.
