An item reported that the French aviso Bougainville visited the Dutch East Indies harbour Sabang between 26 September-1 October 1936.(1)

Of the Bougainville-class, laid down on 25 November 1929, launched on 25 April 1931, commissioned on 15 February 1933, sunk off Libreville during the battle of Gabon on 9 November 1940, refloated but sunk again in March 1941 and broken up in 1952. Especially built to serve in the Asian and African colonies.
