US navy laying minefields in the Philippines according to the Dutch newspaper Amigoe di Curacao dated 17 July 1941

An item reported that the US Navy warned that the entrances to the bays of Manilla and Subic in the Philippines were protected by recently laid down minefields. Merchant ships were no longer allowed to enter the defence area near the entrance to the Subic and merchant shipping in the Manila Bay was drastically restricted. Leaving or entering the Manila Bay was since then just allowed by daylight.
