An item dated Washington, USA 12th reported that the US Secretary for the Navy Swanson firmly stated that the USA would not lay down a new battleship before the naval conference of 1935. All ships now under construction allowed by the Vinson law consisted just of heavy and light cruisers, destroyers and submarines within the limitations of the Naval Treaty of Washington.(1)
