Polish merchant ship Kutno added to the Polish navy according to a CIA report dated 19 September 1953

An item reported that the Polish merchant ship Kutno was sighted in the Polish navy harbour of Oxhoeft [Oxhöft, Gdynaia] on 28 May 1953 and used by Polish naval personnel as a supply ship. In the ship were some additional berths added. This news was commented and added that the last time this 2.183 gross register tons measuring steamship was sighted she underway way from Rotterdam, Netherlands towards Gdynia, Poland passing Kiel-Holtenau.

1. A Polish merchant ship with this name was regular visitor of Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Antwerp, Belgium in the early 1950s. Ex-Helga Böge renamed 1946, Helgalna renamed 1946 and Kertch renamed 1947. Call sign SPFE. In 1925 built by Lübecker Maschb. Gesellschafft, Lübeck, Germany. Homeport Gdynia. Register tonnage 1.290 (net)-1.803 (under deck)-2.183 (gross) and as dimensions 279,7 x 41.7 x 19.1 (depth) feet.
