Shipyards at St. Petersburg, Russia to built new battleships according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1908 No. 1

Gangut-class

An item reported that one of the two Russian large battleships was to be laid down at the Admiralty Shipyard and the other one by Baltic Yard, both at St. Petersburg, Russia. The Izorski plant was to produced the needed steel and armour plating, the Obuchow plant the artillery and Baltic Yard the turbines/ The designed displacement was 19.970 tons, the main armament 10-30,5cm guns and the speed of 21 knots.(1)

Notes
1. This must be the Gangut-class consisting of the Gangut, Petropavlovsk, Sevastopol and Poltava with a main armament of 4x3-“30,5cm/12” guns, a displacement of 24.800 tons and a speed of 24,1 knots achieved during trials. The navy asked for tenders from all over the world resulting on 12 March 1908 in a total of received designs.
