An item reported that for service on the Polish river Oder 12 modern steam tugs were built, 8 with a horsepower of 350hp and one funnel, 8 with a horsepower of 500hp and 2 funnels and 2 with a horsepower of 450hp and 2 funnels. A floating dock at Labedy [former Laband] was used for building motor tugs with the motors produced by Skoda. At the same shipyard were also craft built for the river police or Milicia Srodladow Rzeczna. On the river were 2 types of lighters serving
The lighters of 800 tons with a draught of around 1,20 metres and called trawler served mainly on the Frankfurt-Szczecin [former Stettin] section.
The lighters and of 500 ton with a draught of around 1,00 metres , built at Kozle [former Cosel] and called speise. Served on the Oder section south of Frankfurt.
Navigation on the Oder was limited to the daylight, in the night were the vessels moored alongside the Polish bank of the Oder.
