New Russian motor merchant ship Arkhangelsk sighted according to a CIA report dated 15 March 1957

An item dealing with the observed activities period between 21 November-1 December 1956 dealing with the observed activities period between 21 November-1 December 1956 reported that the new 9.000-10.000 tons deadweight measuring motor merchant ship Arkhangelsk resembling a liner was sighted while leaving Leningrad, Russia. At the lightship Leningrad she was obviously correcting her compass while she was seen swinging. Fitted out with 3 hatches forward and two hatches aft. Hull and superstructure were white or light grey painted, her funnel yellow with a red belt.
