USA asked Germany to release neutral ships loaded with cargoes for the USA according to the Dutch newspaper Leewarder courant dated 25 November 1939

An item reported that the US government protested in Berlin, Germany asking to release non-American neutral ships, mainly Finnish, seized by Germany transporting cargoes bound for the USA. The cargoes mainly consisted of pulp needed by the paper industry. After assuring that the cargoes was not for the allies were the ships released.
