American whaler Mechanic arrived at Sydney, Australia according to the newspaper The Sydney Gazette and New South Whales Advertiser dated Thursday 16 February 1837

An item reported the arrival on Tuesday of the American whaling barque Mechanic of 565 tons captain Doggat with 1.650 barrels sperm oil. She left 26 months earlier the USA. On board were the survivors of the whaling brig Cornwallis wrecked in Bouka Bay [New Zealand?].
