Original built around 1606 and sold by Jan Jansz van Helmont to the Dutch East Indies Company in 1609. The chamber Amsterdam of the EIC ordered the British captain Henry Hudson to find a new sea route via the Northern seas around Russia towards Asia. Hudson was a well experienced sailor while in service of the British Muscovy Company he regularly visited the White Sea. Via de Faroe Islands arrived he in June 1609 at Newfoundland searching for a North West Passage through the American continent while using the rivers and great lakes. In September the same year he discovered the entrance to the later after hum named Hudson-river. In the end of 1618 was the Halve Maen lost in a sea battle between the Dutch and Portuguese off the coast of Java, Indonesia.
