French whaler Rubens wrecked according to the New Zealand newspaper Daily Southern Cross dated 13 April 1844

An item reported that the French whaler Rubens was wrecked off the island Tubouvai on a distance of around 280 miles south west of Tahiti. The crew and some stores were saved.
