Norwegian whaler from Tønsberg rammed by harpooned whale and sunk

In his report wrote the British consular-Agent Monsen at Tønsberg that Svend Foyn lost that season of his best steam whalers. A harpooned whale rammed the ship which immediately sunk although her crew managed to escape with a small boat.
