American whaler Abraham Barker visited Port Russell, New Zealand according to the New Zealand newspaper Daily Southern Cross dated 11 April 1874

An item reported the arrival at the port of Russell, New Zealand on 24 March of the American whaler Abraham Barker of 380 tons master Potter from whaling with 540 barrels sperm oil 1.260 barrels whale oil 3.200 lb whale bone. A second item states 800 barrels humpback 540 barrel sperm last season.(1)
