Pakistan naval tanker Attock (ex-LV Stodard 1911-1914, Walter Hardcastle 1914-1937, Barbara 1937-1941, Empire Taj 1941-1949) 1949-mid 1950s

Built by Toledo Shipbuilding Co, Toledo, Ohio in November 1911 as L V Stoddard. Sold in 1914 to Sinclair Navigation Co, USA and renamed Walter Hardcastle. Renamed W L Connelly in 1917. Sold in 1937-1938 to Enrico Insom, Italy and renamed Barbara. Seized on 25 August 1941 by the Royal Navy at Bandar Shapur, Iran. Towed to Karachi, Pakistan. Added to the Ministry of Transport with as managers Andrew Weird&Co. and renamed Empire Taj. Laid up in 1948 at Abadan, Iran. Sold in October 1949 to the Pakistan navy and renamed Attock. In Jane’s Fighting Ships 1952-1953 mentioned as fleet replenishment ship, elsewhere as fuel hulk berthed at Karachi. Gross tonnage 3.065 tons, under deck 2.726 tons, net tonnage 1.825 tons with as dimensions 313 (over all) x 43 3/4 x 27½ feet, mid 1950s no longer mentioned in Jane’s.
