American whaler Mohawk visited Russell, New Zealand according to the New Zealand newspaper Daily Southern Cross dated Monday 6 April 1863

An item reported the departure from Port Russell, New Zealand on 4 March of the American whaler Mohawk of 350 tons master Swain for a short cruise and then homeward bound 600 barrels sperm 102 casks sperm oil ex Stafford 43 casks sperm oil 59 sperm whale oil; ex Washington.
