An item reported that 4 bombers of the US Amy attacked a Japanese naval force at Rabaul, New Britain [Papua New Guinea] consisting of 2 cruisers, 4 destroyers and 8 transports. One cruiser was hit and probably sunk, the second one was possible heavily damaged. There was none enemy resistance during the attack.
