British battle cruiser HMS Renown executing Far East voyage according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 8 dated 25 February 1922


An item reported that the British battle cruiser HMS Renown (1) was to visit Colombo, Ceylon 20 January-22 February, Bombay 27 February-8 March and arriving at Karachi on 10 March waiting for His Royal Highness (2) to return from his India tour leaving on 17 March, next Colombo 2-25 March, Port Swettenham 28 March, leaving Singapore on 2 April, Hong Kong 6-8 April, Yokohama 12 April, probably leaving Kobe 8 May, Kagoshima 9 May, Manila 15 May, Borneo 21 May, Penang 24 May, Colombo 30 May, Great Hanish 6 June, Suez 10 June, Port Said 12 June, Gibraltar 17 June and arriving home around 20 June. A light cruiser was to act as an escort for the Renown furnished by stations she passed.

Notes

1. Of the Renown-class with as sister ship the Repulse. Original laid down as an improved Revenge-class battleships design but when the First World War broke out was her completion delayed and afterwards completed as battle cruisers. Building ordered on 30 December 1914, laid down at Fairfield, Govan, Scotland on 25 January 1915, launched on 4 March 1916, commissioned on 20 September 1915 and sold on 19 March 1948.
