The Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1910-1911 reported that the German gunboat SMS Tiger visited Tandjong Priok between 1-4 March, Surabaya between 6-13 March, Stagen between 15-16 March, Makasser between 17-18 March and Menado, Dutch East Indies between 21-22 March 1911.(1) The Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 21 February reported that she would arrive at Tandjong Priok on 1 March and described her as 900 tons large and after visiting Surabaya, Makassar and Manilla, Philippines to return to the East Asian water. She could be compared with the Dutch flotilla vessels but appears larger due to her two funnels. She was armed with 2x1-10,4cm guns (1 bow, 1 aft) and 6-1pd quick firing guns. The edition dated Wednesday 1 March reported her arrival at Tandjong Priok around 11:00 o’clock. She was commanded by captain lieutenant Luppe with the intention to stay until the 5th. Luppe visited the next morning the Dutch resident, vice admiral and army commanding officer. The edition dated 2 March reported her coming from Bangkok, Siam bound for Surabaya, with a crew of 8 officers and 120 men.
