British destroyers searching for Greek and Boshevik activities in Black Sea area according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 19 for the week ending 27 August 1921

An item reported that two British destroyers visited northern Anatolian Black Sea harbours to investigate Greek and Boshevik activities. One conclusion drawn afterwards was that the United Kingdom was considered to be an enemy of the Nationalist Turks. The British declaration of nationality was not believed. Attitude to the British warships was polite but except for Sinope were landings not permitted. Greek activities were not confirmed. If the Bosheviks were supplying the Nationalsit Turks with ammunition than probably shipped in motor caiques to Trebizond.
