Laid down by Yokosuka Naval Arsenal on 11 April 1922, launched on 30 January 1923, completed on 30 October 1924. grounded after being heayy damaged during an Allied air attack on Rabaul on 14 January 1944, again damaged on 2 March 1944 and scuttled o 15 March 1944. Built under the Eight-Eight Fleet program as the Kamoi-class, but modified as the Ondo-class, preceded by Kamoi and succeeded by Kazahay. Similar to the Shiretoko-class. One planned completed as icebreaker Otomari and one planned completed as food supply ship Mamiya.
