An item reported that the South Korean president Dr. Syngman Rhee (26 March Haeju-19 July 195 Honolulu, Hawaii) approved the plan for establishing a regular cargo shipping service between Pusan, South Korea and Sydney, Australia starting with the 3,800 tons Government cargo ships Pusan (1) and Masan (2).

Call sign HLHJ. Gross tonnage 3,938 tons, under decl 3.282 tons, net tonnage 2,608 tons and as dimensions 330.5 x 49.7 x 26.2 feet.
2. Laid down by Leatham D. Smith S.B. Co., Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, USA as MC hull 219 AK-205 Poinsett on 6 November 1943, launched on 22 May 1944, transferred to the US Navy on 22 January 1945, commissioned on 7 February 1945, decommissioned on 25 January 1946, stricken on 12 March 1946, sold and renamed Carina in 1947 and in 1952 Masan of the Korean Shipping Co., gross tonnage 3,913 tons, under deck 3,358 tons, net tonnage 2,710 tons and as dimensions 326.3 x 50.1 x 26.5 feet.
