Japanese cargo ship (ex-Turushima Maru 1919-1938) Turusima Maru 1938-1944

Call sign JTVD. Built by Uraga Dock Co. Ltd., Uraga, Japan in July 1919, torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Jack (SS-259) on 30 June 1944. Gross tonnage 4,646 tons, under deck 3,927 tons, net tonnage 3,351 tons and as dimensions 360.0 x 51/2 x 26.1 x 8 (light)-23 (loaded feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, 358 nhp, coal bunker capacity 1,700 tons, and a range of 15,000 nautical miles/10 knots.
