Russia improving harbour facilities at Sovetskaya Gavan [Sovgan] in 1943

American naval attaché at Moscow, Russia reported in June 1943 referring to a fairly reliable conversation with a Russian shipbuilder of SovGavan (Sovetskaya Gavan, harbour connecting Strait of Tartary with the Sea of Okhotsk)) where the navy rapidly improved the harbour facilites although there were no rail line or motor road leading from the harbour or making plans to built. All former American Liberty ships were forced to anchor at La Perouse for inspection by the Japanese who were afraid that the USA operated the ships.
