Composition of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in November 1941

Gangut-class

American naval attaché at Moscow, Russia reported in November 1941 that the Black Sea Fleet consisted of 1 battleship [Parizhskaya Kommuna (1)], 5 heavy cruisers, 2 icebreakers, 2 destroyer leaders, 11 new, 7 old and 9 small destroyers, 1 minelayer, 18 minesweepers, 2 PG’s, 50 motor torpedo boats, 1 submarine tender and submarines: 3 Sail-class, 5 Love, 4 Dog, 15 Shch and 12 Mike. Lost 1 destroyer leader, 2 new destroyers badly damaged and 1 old destroyer sunk.

1. Part of Gangut-class preceded by Andrei Pervozvanny class succeeded by Imperatritsa Mariya class. Laid down as Sevatsopol by Baltic Works, St. Petersburg, Russia on 16 June 1909, launched on 10 July 1911, commissioned on 30 November 2014, of the Bolshewiks sinc November 1917, decommissioned in NOvember 9118, renamed Parizhskaya Kommuna on 21 Mach 1921, recommissioned 17 September 1925, renamed Sevastopol on 31 May 1943 and broken up in 1957.
