Japanese cargo ship Kamoi Maru 1936-1942

Call sign JKIL. Laid down by Mitsui Bussan Kaisha Ld., Tama, Japan on 21 October 1936, launched on 20 January 1937, completed on 1 Match 1937, Army Transport No. 102 1938-1939, released in 1940, requisitioned by navy on 3 September 1941, registered as an auxiliary collier on 20 September 1941, torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Wahoo (SS-228) around 32 nautical miles North North West off north end of Bougainville and stricken on 1 February 1943. Gross tonnage 5,356 tons, under deck 4,534 tons, net tonnage 3,225 tons, deadweight 7,876 tons and as dimensions 391.4 x 53.8 x 29.8 x 8 (light)-24 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, 407 nhp, single screw, coal bunker capacity 1,100 tons, range 12,000 nautical miles/12 knots and speed 12 (normal cruising)-14.5 (maximu) knots.
