An item reported that the four submarines of the Royal Thai Navy although being under a condemned order were now to be refitted. They left their mooring in the Chao Phya River for the dry dock at Thonburi. There were Japanese experts waiting to examine the boats for a possible refit in Japan. Until then the Japanese estimated the coststo be 270,000 pound sterling. The boats were to be towed to Japan between the monsoons and after the refit to be used for anti submarine training.(1)
Note
1. The in the 1930s in Japan built Matchanu-class submarines still exist although the Submarine Group was dissolved on 16 July 1951 and the submarines decommissioned on 30 November 1951.
