Japanese battlecruiser Haruna 1912-1945


Of the Kongo-class. Laid down at the Kawasaki Yard at Kobe 16 March 1912, launched 14 December 1913, early next year started the fitting out and she was completed 19 April 1915. . Sunk due American aircraft attacks at the Kure Navy Base 28 July 1945. The remains were in 1946 salvaged and in the next two years broken up.


Displacement 36,600 tons or 37.187 tons with as dimensions 222 x 31 x 9,7m. The Brown Curtis turbines delivered 64.000 ship allowing a speed of 26 knots and after her rebuilding as battleship between 1926 and 1933 30 knots. Her crew numbered 1.360 men. Armed in 1915 with 4x2  14” guns, 16-6” guns, 8-3” guns and 8-21” torpedo tubes. In 1945 armed with 4x2 14” guns, 16-6” guns, 4x2 5” guns, 122-1” anti aircraft guns. She also carried 3 aircrafts, The armour existed of 230mm turrets, 200mm belt and 38-70mm deck
