Preceded by the Retvizan, succeeded by the Borodino-class. Building ordered in 20 July 1898, laid down at Compagnie des Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée à la Seyne, France on 8 July 1999, launched on 23 February 1901, commissioned on 31 August 1903, renamed Grashdanin on 13 April 1917, acquired by the Soviet Union in November 1917, decommissioned in May 1918, broken up in begin 1924 and stricken on 21 November 1925. With a displacement of 12,915 tons were her dimensions 388'9" (over all) x 76'1" x 26'(maximum). The engines joined by 20 Belleville boilers supplied 16,500 ihp allowing a speed of 18,5 knots. The coal bunker capacity was maximum 1,350 tons. Her crew numbered 782 men. The original armament consisted of 2x2-12" guns, 6x2-6" guns, 20-11pdrs, 4-15" torpedo tubes and 45 mines; later were two tubes removed. The armour consisted of a 7-10' belt ending in 4 3/4- 6 3/4", the main gun turrets were protected by 10" and the secondary gun turrets by 6" and the conning tower by 10".
