Displacement 8.500 tons standard and 10.000 tons load with as dimensions 177,4,x x 18,25 x 4,02m with 9,70m hold. Her engines provided 80.000 hp allowing her 4 hours during trial a speed of 32 knots and with a speed of 14 knots her range was 7.500 miles. Her armament consisted of 3x2-203mm turrets (two aft, one aft), 6x2-120mm (2 fore, each side 2), 4-75mm guns, 4x2-25mm machine guns, 1 catapult and 2 floatplanes, 2x4-533mm German torpedo tube launchers and two paravans. Her crew numbered 702 men.


A paravaan was hollow metallic body with ‘wings’ fitted out with scissors or knives to cut through the cables of anchored sea mines so that they floated to the surface.
