Launching of the Dutch merchant bark ship Walcheren at Middelburg according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeesche Courant dated Wednesday 17 September 1851

Thursday afternoon was at the yard of the Commercie Compagnie at Middelburg with success the bark ship Walcheren launched by shipbuilder A. Otto on behalf of the company with as board members J.J. den Bouwmeester, mr. W.C. Borsius and P.J. van der Leije destined for the oceanic trade shipping with as master S. Ouwehand. Immediately after the launching was the keel laid down of a bark ship of around 300 lasten.
