A new British torpedo boat design according to the Dutch newspaper Suriname: koloniaal nieuws- en advertentieblad dated 6 April 1939
This newspaper reported that recently trials were undertaken with a new torpedo boat for the British navy which had a maximum speed of 50 miles. The length was 70’ and the 3 Rolls Royce engines supplied each 100 hp. The armament was to consist of 2-21” or 4-18’ torpedo tubes, 3 small guns, a equipment to create a smoke screen and a launcher for depth bombs. This design from Scott Paine missed masts and funnels and the surfaced part of the boat was the smallest compared with other warships. It was possible to reduce the speed from 40 to 8 miles in 3 seconds and to increase the speed in 8 seconds from 10 to 50 miles.
