The public sell of the Dutch merchant frigate ship Agneta according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 29 October 1859



Thanks to newspapers we can obtain sometimes valuable informations using published announcements of departure or arrival of ships of selling on auctions. An example is the announcement of the sell of the Agneta on Monday 31 October 1859 in the Nieuwe Stads-Herberg at the IJ, Amsterdam. She was described as an extra ordinary, well sailing coppered ship sailing under Dutch flag with as master J. Jonker. According to the Dutch tonnage certificate  were her dimensions 38 el 55 duim x 6 el 73 duim x 5 el 93 duim (-38,55 x 6,73 x 5,93 metres) and with a measurement of 864 tonnen or 361 lasten. She could be visited in the Oosterdok at Amsterdam.
