Stimson chairman of the American delegation at the London Naval Treaty according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post daily edition dated 11 November 1929

According to a tiding from the press association Aneta-Reuter was Stimson head of the American delegation at the London Naval Treaty conference (1) busy with preparing for this difficult task. He followed an intensive course of 3 weeks American naval policy for which the navy council was responsible.

Note
1. This treaty was signed by the United Kingdom, Japan, USA, Italy and France on 22 April 1930 with as purpose to limit the building of warships and to regulate the use of submarines in wartime. The Stimson in this news item is probably the secretary of state (1929-1933) of president Hoover Henry Lewis Stimson (21 September 1867-20 October 1950). He was also known for his Stimson Doctrine as a result of the Japanese invasion of Manchuria. Such territorial acquisitions despite existing treaties would the USA not recognize. Stimson was also in 1911-1913 and 1940-1945 secretary of war.
