Dutch coastal minesweeper Hr.Ms. Venlo (1954)


Laid down at the yard of the Arnhemsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij at Arnhem, Netherlands on 10 February 1954, launched on 21 May 1955, commissioned on 16 April 1956 as Hr. Ms. Venlo with as pennant M 817. Was built for American account as the MSC 180. Of the so-called Dokkum-class with a displacement of 425 tons and as dimensions 46,62 x 8,78 x 2,00 metres. The two diesel engines supplied totally 2,500 ahp driving 2 reversible screws allowing a speed of 14 miles. Armed with 2-40mm machine guns and their crew numbered 41 men. Wood-built with aluminium trusses.
