Laid down in 1952 at the yard of Avondale Maritime Ways Incorporation at New Orleans, USA and handed over in 1954 to the Royal Netherlands Navy and commissioned on 26 March. First pennant was PCE 1607. With a displacement of 913 tons were her dimensions 56,27 x 10,29 x 2,95 metres. The two 2 diesels provided 1,600 ahp allowing a speed of 15 miles. Her crew numbered 96 men. The armament consisted of 1-7,6cm gun, 2x3-40mm machineguns and 4x2-20mm machineguns.
