Portuguese ships Vigilant and General Lecor arriving at Lisbon according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 20 April 1821
Lisbon, 31 March. The Portuguese brigantine Vigilant arrived 30 March at Lisbon coming from the Sao Miguel Island, Azores with on board Major Joseph Madeiros d’Alberquerque with letters for the Regent reporting that the government and the population declared to obey the constitution of the Cortes. The governor refused this and was dismissed. The brig General Lecor arrived 31 March at Lisbon coming from Rio Janeiro after a voyage of 65 days. Her master reported that at the day he left Rio the ship Dom Joao VI was ready to take the dauphin and his wife on board.
