This minesweeper of the type 1265 -class was obtained from the USSR departing that country for Syria in December 1985 and handed over to the Syrian navy in January of the next year with as homeport Tartous. Build with a wooden hull is the displacement 450 (full load) tons and with dimensions 48 x 8,8 x 2 metres or 157.4 x 28.9 x6.6 feet. The 2 Kolona type-9-diesels supplied 2,000hp allowing a speed of 15 knots and with a speed of 110 knots a range of 3,000 nautical miles. Her crew numbers 43 men. The armament consists of 1x2-3cm gun of 2-3cm guns, 1x2,5cm gun and 8 mines.
