British troop transports destined towards Jamaica according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 28 October 1816

An item dated London 22 October reported that people feared for a revolt on Jamaica and perhaps also elsewhere of the negroes. This revolt was according tot the newspapers caused by revolutionaries, plantation owners and missionaries of the Methodists. At Cork and Plymouth were now some transports busy with embarking troops for Jamaica. The 58th and 61st regimens and some companies artillery were transferred to these harbours.
