A gunboat for Hong Kong government according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van het Noorden dated 16 October 1926

An item dated Hong Kong 16 October reported that the British Admiralty received a request to send mid 1927 a gunboat to Hong Kong where the government intended to create corps of naval volunteers. This government wanted to lent the gunboat being responsible for the maintenance costs and taken care of instructing the crew. The naval authorities believed that such volunteers would be very useful in supporting the administrations of the colonies. This plan however depended if and how volunteers answered to this call.(1)
