According to a tiding dated Madrid 13 August was the squadron commanded by rear admiral don Antonio Barceló (1)appointed to commanding the naval force in the Strait increased to the number of 30 ship to blockaded Gibraltar with more pressure. In the meantime capture he several Portuguese and Neapolitan ships and one Dutch ship which tried to break the blockade with victuals and a Swedish ship coming out of the harbour of Gibraltar which escaped the Spanish force while entering the harbour.
