An item dated Copenhagen, Denmark 16 December reported that according to the Scandinavian Shipping Gazette of Copenhagen the US Maritime Commission ordered recently the building of 49 tankers of which 36 by the Alabama Drydock and Shipping Co. at Nobile and the remaining by the shipyard Bethlehem Steel Co. at Sparrowpoint, Maryland. Both shipyards needed to expand with new slopes to be able to full fill the orders within the contracted period, Alabama Drydock needed 8 and the Bethlehem Steel Co. 2 slips.
