According to tidings dated Portsmouth 10 July published in the newspaper Times ordered the British admiralty the building of six new screw steam ships of the line, three sailing ships and 3 frigates. The measures taken to encourage sailors to serve in the navy (high wages and a possible pension in exchange for 10 years service) were not successful until now. So was the new ship of the line Wellington still missing around 150 men for her crew of 1,100.
